SKINPROJECT chemical peels are uniquely formulated with thixotropic behaviour. This means that the consistency of the peel changes depending on whether it's being applied or at rest in the bottle. When applied or spread on the skin, the peel becomes more fluid, making it easier to spread evenly. This is beneficial during the application process as it allows for smoother coverage. However, once the peel is applied and in place, its thixotropic nature kicks in. It starts to revert to a thicker or more gel-like state, helping it stick to the skin and stay in place without running off. This thicker consistency enhances the peel's contact time with the skin, allowing the active ingredients to work effectively.

The SKINPROJECT JESSNER Peel is best suited for superficial peeling and may be used as a “first-time” treatment for most people as it covers a wide variety of skin conditions and concerns.

We would advise everyone who has had a SKINPROJECT peel to avoid any retinol products for 10 days after the treatment. 

After your treatment, you might feel redness, tingling or a slight burning sensation, which is completely normal. You might also notice some mild swelling or irritation on the first and second days, as well as dryness. After about 2 to 3 days, your skin might start peeling, and you may notice any hyperpigmentation or blemishes becoming more noticeable. This is a normal reaction. Within 5 to 7 days, any side effects should go away, and your skin will return to its normal state. By the 7th to 14th day, you will see new, brighter skin emerge. Glowing skin for the win!

In the run-up to your SKINPROJECT peel, all topical agents must be discontinued at least 7 days before the peeling treatment, however, your practitioner will advise on the best protocol for your skin type and goals. It’s important to use a high, broad-spectrum SPF every day, but especially after a SKINPROJECT peel. Using SPF is essential after a peel as your skin is more sensitive to sun damage. You can also ask for advice from your aesthetic practitioner on which sunscreen to use, as some chemical-based products may irritate the skin. Use an SPF 30+ for at least 6 weeks after treatment.
